Shapaco use (Tiny NC Mill)

This tool was originally for the electronics lab. It can cut and drill PC boards, among other things. I would like to learn how to program it. I have a Win7 machine, no access to Linux at this time.

I have had some training several years ago at the old space. Unfortunately nothing stuck. I have a lot of experience in maintaining these kind of machines, but none in programming them.

Before I ask for some more hands on training I would like to get some experience (either with tutorials or other) on the software I would use to run this machine.

For example, I would like to be able to program a constellation of PCB holes to run on a completed board made with the toner transfer technique.

This may have been better posted in the electronics forum, but the machine is currently stored in the machine shop.,

Actually, the Shapeoko was acquired since the move to Monetary. While both it and the PCB mill are in the machine shop, neither are actively supported by us. I, for instance, have no idea how to use either. I’d contact John Kulenschmidt for info on the Shapeoko, and ask Kent Bowling for direction on the PCB mill.

I on the other hand use Linux at home, & would also like to be able to use this tool for things such as hole-drilling.

Thanks. I’ll repost this thread in the Electronics forum.

Feel free to chime in on the new thread to be publius, maybe we can get a class started,

I was able to fire up the “non-shapeoko” pcb mill a few weeks ago and got some basic pcb milling operations going. Ask Kent for the username + pw and quick rundown. Other than the axis’s wires being switched around it wasn’t too difficult. I’d also be interested in a Shapeoko and pcb mill class.

I’d love to learn to use it for non-PCB stuff (i.e., scale miniatures). I’d be interested in a class too.
