Hi all— is there anyone who is proficient with the CNC machine who would want to help me with a small project in the next week or so? Offering cash for help! I would like to make one of those topographic maps carved into a piece of wood.
At some point, I want to get certified on the CNC machine, but I’m looking to have something finished by Christmas, so at this point I just need someone else who already knows what they’re doing. Thanks!
Do you have your cad and cam completed. Many times topo maps take a very long time(hours) to process.
No, I’m very much at square one— I’ve never even used any of the softwares required for a CNC. I found a website where you can download STL files for any area of the world though. Not sure if that’s helpful or not.
You might find this to be a lot more involved than anticipated. The process is significantly more involved than say 3D printing or LASER cutting.
Many people make topo maps on the laser out of 3mm plywood. They look very nice.
