My wife had a mishap that damaged a tire. Not clear if she hit a curb or road debris, but it caused a 2" cut the rear tire sidewall. Turns out it seems to have done a lot more damage. This isn’t entirely surprising, but before I pay the dealer $3+ K I’d kinda like to get a second opinion. Of course the warranty doesn’t apply since it’s impact damage.
I don’t know who to take it to, though. Car is a 2023 Nissan Altima.
Dealer is saying passenger side front and rear wheel bearing impact damage ($1.2K) right rear control arm to correct out of camber/toe ($1K) Front strut bent and leaking ($1.1K)
And (of course) they have the standard caveat that they may find more issues as they work, and can’t guarantee this will fix everything until they complete these repairs and test.
Second opinion as in, lower bid, or just double checking the diagnosis? That’s all stuff you could check yourself either on the lift or jackstands at home. They also should be able to provide you photos and the alignment report.
I’m no help on the second bid, hard to tell what’s reasonable. I think our ProDemand could give you hours estimates on the jobs and you could back into it.
More double checking the diagnosis. I’m getting a strong “woman customer” vibe here, like showing the alignment report, but not providing a copy, and no photos.
Those are going to be brand new oem parts and labor since the car is that new, that’s why they quoting you so much. Also it’s dealership labor. If you want a significantly lower price, you have to go aftermarket and shop around for better pricing at other garages for installation
Not really shopping price as much as making sure we get it right.
Christian brothers are a good choice and I can’t recommend auto science enough
If you see me at DMS or see my white ford Escape in the camera, you can stop by and I can check them for you. I will be at DMS tonight to replace a ball joint if the lift is available. You also can go to an alignment only shop and they will tell you what should be repaired before take your business. Because they don’t repair cars, they usually give good diagnostics.
