Hey,

So after a secret vote, I found out I am heading up the Screen Printing SIG, under Creative Arts @missydee1206. Uhmm… yay!

I’ll talk to @uglyknees and missydee1206 this week and come up with an overall plan.

Current status. We have:

  • screens
  • an Exposure Unit
  • a sprayer & hose to wash out screens
  • UV safe bulbs
  • plenty of inks, reducer, squeegees, screen cleaner

Almost ready:
dryer unit to dry screens and store them. The wiring it done. just needs a few m4 Bolts and paint.

Needed: TEACHERS
Teachers to teach how to make screens, and how to screen shirts/cloth.

Who can help with making screens?

I am interested in learning how to screen print - I have never even done basic screen printing. One day, if I get good enough, I would even love to teach. But I think that may be months and months away.

I used to be but I’m all about the Snipping Tool now.

Joking aside, yes, I would love more classes and what-not. Not sure my life would allow much more than that right now though.

I’ve done some screen printing (with my dad as a kid), and some experimentation on my own recently. I may be able to convince my brother, who used to work for a commercial screen printer, to come help with some classes.

I see what you did there!

I’m interested in learning the printing part. But I would likely just want to observe in the burning of screens unless someone were making a new one for the space ( @LisaSelk does want sloth shirts…)

Done tens of thousands of shirts working at a T-Shirt shop in High School. Would love to re-learn with modern materials.

So I ordered emulsion plus a smattering of various stuff for silkscreen before I left. Fed ex tried to deliver but apparently no one opened the door for three days - they called but I wasn’t in town. I don’t know. The box went back to Houston. They are sending it back in the morning. Sorry for the delay. It should be here very very soon. I would think two days. He’s going to call me in the morning with an update. @Hardsuit I had intended on the delivery being her on the 13th :grimacing:

I wanted 3 screens for myself. Let me know when to be there.

If one can screen print circuit boards then I’m down for a class :slight_smile:

Of course I mean learning how to make screens then I’ll be glad to teach a class one a month.

Astrud wants to head up art via the silkscreen. We talked about it just yesterday.

I saw there was a 4 screen station - is there a chance to do fine art printing? I think Photoshop does CMYK separations still.

I’ve taken the regular screen printing class and am ready for the new screen creation class. Not opposed to helping teach down the road!

I second this! It’s been sooooooo long (almost 18 years, ouch!) since I’ve done screen printing but I am a very fast learner and I would love to teach a class/help with screens as long as someone who has done it more recently doesn’t mind me watching once or twice!

Edit: learning to silk screen circuit boards and aluminum cases for guitar pedals.
