Science Committee Meeting and Elections - 12/29/24 - Sunday 2:30PM

Just a reminder that our monthly meeting and elections are this Sunday at 2:30 PM. Depending on the length of the meeting, an informal office hours will be held at 3:30 but the exact start time may vary a bit. This will be followed by a laboratory safety class that will grant permission to use the fume hood (4-6PM).

Call for Proposals/Volunteers:
We are renewing a call for proposals for group research projects (2 ongoing - likely room for just 1 more) and volunteers to lead fun activities for our Science Sunday events. Please post your ideas at the following source pages:

Items up for vote tomorrow:

  • Chair Election
  • Addition of no minor working alone rule
  • Formal adoption of an “at your own risk safety disclaimer” concerning the experiment approval process by safety officer.
  • Proposal to move monthly meetings to 3PM to match regular Science Sunday hours (to avoid confusion by having only one session begin at 2:30)

Group Project Voting:

  • Vote to continue existing projects (radiative cooling cloth, 3D print smoothing chamber)
  • Determine if we want to add a 3rd project at this time (cloud chamber construction proposed by Van Graham with a potential aluminum anodization subproject by @greenorbs).
