Sanding Advice Please

Hi! So I bought a random orbital sander and adapter for my shop vac recently, but I discovered that the suction on the shop vac is too strong and makes the cutting board I’m trying to sand stick to the sander. What advice do you have for how I could handle this?

The higher end dust extractors usually have a way to control the suction…
rockler has all there dust collection stuff on sale
https://www.rockler.com/
You might find something that works for you there??
All the Festool dust extractors have a speed control built in to control vacuum…

This is what I have to my home shop

Find a piece of pvc pipe 2 to 3 inches long that will fit between the hose and the vacuum. Drill a few small holes in it until the suction is where you want it to be.

3D print a way to variable vent the vacuum pressure. For example, A wye that has a dust gate in the second branch.

It sucks that your vacuum sucks too much! I have a Fein vacuum - it came with an attachment that has a variable opening vent - see picture - check with Rockler/woodcraft or make your own.

If you’re using sandpaper with holes (not mesh) you could just offset it from the holes in the sander.

Thanks so much everyone for your input! They were all very helpful! I’ll be looking into these the next time I’m sanding at home
