I’m making a “thing” out of wood that will eventually be painted, probably with rattle-can textured paint.
Voids and imperfections are filled with thickened epoxy and the raw wood will be sealed with sanding sealer.
I need to find a good high-build sandable primer that I can use to find and sand out imperfections. It should be compatible with spray paint.
Any ideas?
Would sanding sealer work? I’ve never used it under spray paint.

I’m using sanding sealer on the raw wood but after that I want something that will form a thick-ish layer that can be sanded. Something that will highlight imperfections, maybe gray in color.

I’ve used this on molds for carbon fiber layups. It’s a medium build filler that meets your other descriptions

That looks like it will probably work. Thanks!
