The city can’t seem to keep sand out of our water. I’m having to clean my kitchen faucet on nearly a weekly basis and the constant taking apart and reassembling is starting to damage it.
When I complained they came and opened the fire hydrant just upstream of me and sand blew all down the street so I know it’s not an issue with my water main.
Does there exist some sort of pre-filter that can be easily backwashed/emptied/blown-out without having to also install a separate valve or turn the water off?
I believe that sand removal filters are pretty common in well water installations. You might contact someone in that business. These should not be confused with sand filters where sand is the filtering media.
It might just be a long term sediment problem. If it’s not and continues after the flush I’d be more worried about the line break that is allowing the sand in. What else is it sucking in with it? If the flush doesn’t cure your problem, I’d take your water to the county health department to get tested.
