Safe thick foam material?

Yeah I jumped on it when I saw it in stock. They had one pallet and was on top shelf in roofing section. I bought quite a few sheets.

Owens Corning Foamular ™ is not polyurethane, it is XPS (polystyrene). Dow colors theirs blue and calls is Styrofoam ™ and/or Xenergy ™ foam.

EPS and XPS are both OK to cut on the laser. Watch for flareups.

Note: I got EPS and XPS reversed on my earlier post: I’ve corrected it.

The Laser Basics Class Notes has the official word on what materials are approved for use in DMS lasers.

The Notes are always available from the DMS Wiki Here’s the link: https://dallasmakerspace.org/wiki/Laser_Committee#Laser_Basics_Classes_.26_Materials_.28Google_Doc_format.29

WRT cutting Pink and Blue XPS, they are on the approved list in the Notes.

Also, according to the Notes, low density EPS Styrofoam is not OK at DMS.
