So that rotating vending machine that has the fridge unit disabled that we use to have electronics and stuff in, well the stuff was taken out a while ago and because of some tax forms or something they can’t take the money out of it.
It seems to me like that would be a waste of space and electricity just because we have money stuck in limbo.
Would it be possible to maybe repurpose the machine to vend common supplies again?
Here’s some suggestions:
- ) Deoderant
- ) Train/Bus passes (Allen was talking about selling these)
- ) AAA/AA batteries, CR2032 batteries and battery holders
- ) 3M foam doublesided tape, velcro, zipties (these are extremely handy to have)
- ) Assorted metric screws, I propose bulk 100 packs of M4, M3, M5, nuts, washers instead of the ones we had before.
- ) earbuds/headphones, mice, etc. Obviously aliexpress.com cheap-o versions.
I also hope the drink fridge thing gets approved that @Brandon_Green brought up.

- 3D Printer Filament Mini-Spools
What the heck? Can’t take the money out because of a tax form? Did they not have a sales tax permit on file

@PearceDunlap had a mini-spools before but the spools were a pain and he would give a discount if you would give them back when you were done but nobody did.
I totally agree mini-spools though, I think it might alleviate our issues with people using cheap filament and jamming nozzles, and also people not paying for their filament usage in 3D fab.
I’d kind of like to know this too. I remember this was left over from the old space before we moved. I think it was because members were buying stuff to put in the vending machine, but couldn’t get their money out of it.
That reminds me, I forgot to bring up at the last board meeting that we should get rid of it because no one bothers stocking it, so if no one makes use of it before the next board meeting I will try to liquidate it.

Also we do have our sales tax permit thing as of a (couple?) months ago, its on the wall between money box and defib unit. Nothing is stopping someone from stocking it other than no one has wanted to.
Also also everyone should email [email protected] and tell them how important it is to you to invest in improving the galley area and that you support purchasing a new drink fridge

honestly doesnt have to be spooled.
could even 3d print some “spools”
lol i actually like that old antique drink machine. that thing is cool and keeps the cans really cold.
It also shakes the cans up and is pretty nasty inside, also one of the dispensers is broken. The drink cooler next to it almost gets drinks to maybe a not cold 50~F, I’d prefer more drink storage, more drink options, colder drinks.
Also if we were adventurous we could build transparent LCD glass doors like this
I think the time and effort involved might outweigh the cost. Maybe some cardboard spools I could laser cut and use wrapping paper tubing for the hubs, or like this http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:484241
It’s Paul Brown’s machine. We just need to contact him about removing it. We are no longer going to have room for it anyway as we plan to acquire two large upright commercial merchandisers that will occupy the space of the wooden shelf, the white fridge, and Paul’s machine.
I used to have a coke machine like this one in my garage. Kept sodas, water, and beer in it. Worked great. I got mine for free off CL. Could rig an RFID up to it to keep tally of dispensed items.

It’s not Paul’s machine, Paul owns the Coffee maker - I control the vending machine they’re talking about.
It hasn’t been stocked because no one has told me we’re cleared to stock it. Ideally, I’d hand it over to Allen.
Brandon,
No need to go to the board - if we want it gone, I won’t fight it… I just want to make sure we give it a chance before trashing it.

If nobody can tell if we are clear to restock it, is it just stuck in limbo? I think selling/donating it would free up some space but right now like the USB cables for $1, we could just have non-food items like that on a shelf and do honor system payments with tax included like the snacks, we wouldn’t need a vending machine at all.
So Logistics committee (Allen) can stock it, or anyone that wants to buy stuff to stock it can?
Anyone can go through @bscharff to get stuff in it
I thought about it and I’ll hand over the keys to Allen. If I see him tomorrow, I’ll hand 'em over.

I did print spools and never got them back. You couldn’t put larger spools in there, so making custom sized is the only option
