The folks at RoboDK were kind enough to send us 30 educational licenses for their software! Note that we now have another sponsor listed towards the bottom of the home page:
www.dallasmakerspace.org
To put this in perspective, a single commercial RoboDK license is $3495. A single educational license is $145. Makerspace has 30 educational licenses.
We can now simulate tool paths for our big yellow Staubli RX60 robotic arm offline, as well as use the original CS7 controller to run the arms. This is a game changer which makes the arm nearly plug and play, compared to using the manufacturer’s proprietary code to move the arms. I’ll be messing around with it over the holidays to get it to work.
I can now see using RoboDK software and the CS7 controller to run the RX60 arm, and then use the open source STMBL controller (once it’s completed) and Linux CNC to run the other RX60L arm.
