RFID, NFC Implants & Biohacking - January 23rd, 2016 11:00am

We’re organizing Round 2 of the RFID/NFC Implant & Biohacking class!

Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Lecture Hall (Calendar reservation pending)

The goal of the class is to learn about RFID/NFC body implants.
We will discuss risks and benefits of implanting tags and general body modification questions.
The Eventbrite tickets will include the cost of the kit and fees included for the injection.
Last day to purchase implant kits is January 9th to provide enough lead time for kits to be delivered.

The RFID Kit ($83.28) includes an RFID 125khz EM4200/EM4102 tag that work with the Dallas Makerspace RFID door readers with a UID pre-programmed: (https://dangerousthings.com/shop/xemi-em4200-2x12mm-injection-kit/5)

The NFC Kit ($128.65) includes a NFC Type 2 NTAG216 13.56MHz ISO14443A that is Fully NFC Type 2 compliant = compatible with all NFC devices (https://dangerousthings.com/shop/xnt-ntag216-2x12mm-glass-tag/)

The ticket will also include the price of the injection done by Ryan Mills @feengerz a body modification professional, he will have the sterilized equipment at the class.

Disclaimer: This is completely optional. If you do not feel comfortable with RFID implants,

We’ll also hear from @Haley_Moore, @themitch22 & @Comter on their experience with their RFID implants. There will be a demo or two of project(s) they’ve tried.

We encourage you to come and at least ask questions and watch the process. Observing is free and open to the public.

Please read the FAQ about implanting RFID/NFC chips: https://dangerousthings.com/implant-faq/
Thank you @themitch22 for organizing the first round back in Sept. and your guidance for this round.

Bump and Reminder that Saturday January 9th is the last day to purchase implant/implant service tickets. That way we can get delivery of the RFID/NFC chips in time for the event on the 23rd.

Full Disclosure: no tickets sold so far. If that’s the case then we’ll have a biohacking seminar/meeting/hangout and talk about projects.

Thanks but I prefer my NFC ring with two tags.

@feengerz and @themitch22 got some coverage in the Dallas Observer today on this topic!

Way to promote DMS Mitch!

It’s a great article with good information on biohacking. I’m glad I was able to do the interview with Joe Pappalardo.

Got to admit I didn’t make it past the description of ‘hooking’… Just one more of those things I wish I never heard about…

Hahaha I have friends that do it, seeing it in person is very much an odd experience.

We’ve extended the ticket deadline to Sunday at 11:00pm. 5 RFID and 6 NFC tickets are still available.
