[RESOLVED] SawStop is down

Tom is giving me some lessons in preparation of stock, and it seems the SawStop is not working. It doesn’t look like the SawStop got blown. The saw will start up, but cuts off right away with the blade gradually coming to a stop. The light is green.

I used it earlier today (around 5ish) and noticed that too. I pulled the lever and it started for a second, than lost power.

I tried it a few times and after the fourth time, it stayed on and let me cut my sheet of wood.

Not team woodshop and my track record so far is awful but was the light solid or flashing a pattern on the front of the machine. Anyone tried spraying any dust off or checking to see if the cartridge is fully seated right? Did y’all use the metal detector to see if there’s some random piece of metal hiding in wood it shouldn’t be in?

I just used it today. I don’t know if it was just me or not but I seemed to experience the following.

If you pull the switch to turn it on and immediately release it would tend to shut off almost immediately.

If you pull the switch to turn it on and just hold your hand on the switch for about 5-10 seconds it tends to stay on.

I could be completely wrong but but it seems like something is shorting in the controller box that makes it think you are turning it off. When you turn the main power on it cycles red/green. But I do not remember the red light coming on when it shut itself off.

I found on Thursday it thinks the door is open on the right side. You need to make sure that door stays closed. The door is really hard to latch. This is a result from when the saw fell over.

Maybe some magnets can be attached to help keep it closed?

There is a legend on the side of the power switch box that should show what the flashing green/red means

The manual and any relevant documents to it should be in a green folder marked saw stop in the top drawer of the filing cabinet next to the woodshop door. There is also a 3 ring binder in the back of the drawer with information on it

There was a loose screw inside on the switch paddle that was preventing continuous contact. I just rebuilt the switch housing and it works fine now.

I’m going to call this Resolved. Let me know if that’s incorrect.
