The laser seems to not be getting enough power, or needs to be calibrated. At 10% speed and 100% power, it’s barely making a mark on 3/16" hardboard. At this setting. It should almost ignite the board. Please have a look at it. The targeting laser seems dimmer than usual as well.
ideas from a relative novice - 1) did you remember to calibrate the table height? 2) is the vector current set to 100?
I autofocused the table.
I don’t know anything about adjusting the vector current. But I did close out all the programs and restart them. I also rebooted the laser itself.
I cut a few days ago and was successful at 30%. I was able to cut earlier today at 18%. When I came back this evening, no luck. Should have rebooted the PC, but needed to head home at that point.
confirmed, the laser is having issues. Just ran at 1 speed and 100 power.
I got an email that the focus could be off.
From what I have been told, it looks like the alignment is probably bad.
I’d like to thank the member who e-mailed us to explain what happened and why he thought it may have been him to knock it out of alignment. Basically, he didn’t drop the z-table enough before trying to move the cutting head, so it knocked against his work piece. I’ll be updating my class slightly to mention dropping the z-table and checking clearances before moving the cutting head. This is a great example of what to do when you may have broken a tool, as it allowed us to take steps to reduce the chance of this issue recurring.
Since we’re in the middle of the holidays it may be difficult to get a trained volunteer out to the space to fix the alignment.
Its fixed. I took it out back and whooped it into shape.
Nozzle is mis aligned
laser seemed out of power because most of the beam was hitting the rim of the nozzle. (Top bright spot)
Cutting nicely
Thanks for promptly reporting the issue(s), y’all!
and Thanks Pearce for fixing it so quickly!
