[Resolved] Large bandsaw blade 2025/03/30

I wentvsaturday and blade was off with note to “see talk” does anyone know the status?

The last thing that was posted about the bandsaw was 8 days ago, saying it was fixed. So somebody meant to post something, but didn’t.

We replaced the top tire because of damage… it will be back online tomorrow

We have had a “large green beast” of a 3HP bandsaw donated to Calgary protospace last year.primarily for resaw capabilities.

When initially introduced, a half dozen folks ere initiated into use, with instructions
Equiped with a 3hp motor, it’s a much more powerful beast than our 93 !/2"

So let me share some of the problems we’ve encountered

Those fist half-dozen were told that if they were re-sawing logs, they needed to use a sled to hold it steady.

Without exception they ALL ignored that -telling me “i thought I could hold it”
They have been sent to re-education!

Thus many bent blades, the final one s0 badly bent it had to be cut out of the saw!

Then there’s “green wood”- some of it so sappy that chips don\t clear-they gum up blade/tires etc, the gullets fill up, blade prefers not to cut, just create friction, which cooks/solidifies the sap, overheats the blade ( which of course expands), probably losing tension.

Is this within the realm of experience at DMS, if so what solution if someone could share.

Here’s our most recent thread…

comments/suggestions/etc…all welcome SVP
