[Resolved] Best source for 1-1/4" sch 40 PVC pipe

I am planning to build a small frame for a Halloween prop using sch 40.
In your experience, where is the best deal on this pipe? Looks like I’ll need about 80’.

I always appreciate how helpful fellow DMS members are.

Thanks!
Bernard

Home depot is cheap enough for 1-1/4" pipe.

Call a plumbing supply company like Economy Supply or Moore supply. Ask what the cash price is for 4 sticks of inch and a quarter schedule 40 pvc. A stick is 20’.

If you need them shorter to transport, take a hack saw or PVC cutter with you.

Cross reference with big box for price per foot to see if there is a cost savings and if so, whether the cost savings is worth it.

As as aside, it also cuts surprisingly quickly and cleanly using a piece of nylon para-cord and the vigorous application of friction.

Useful to know when replacing a section of PVC pipe still buried in the ground.

mason’s line works well, too…

For that pro cut every time :grinning:

(realising I"m now talking off-topic completely, given that it’s about shc40)
those things won’t cut DWV (or as the contractor who built my house call it “sprinkler pipe”)

The ratchet kind will cut it, but those are a bit more pricey. Sawzall is my go to, then scrape the jagged edge =).

Now we wayyyyyy off topic =)

Not mine (neither of them); just squash it, even with brand-spanking new blade.

:+1:

But the rope trick is handy from time to time… Like in a wall, where you can’t really get blade-y stuff in behind…
