Resin Molding/Casting Class Request

Hello,

Recently I have been looking into resin casting and I wanted to see if anyone has taught a class or is planning on teaching a class to cover the molding/casting process. If there isn’t enough interest for a full class I would be happy to meet up as I would love to learn.

As a side note, has anyone had success casting pieces made with the 3d printers after cleanup?

Thanks,
Caleb

For what it’s worth, I cast an extremely simple 3d print successfully. It was essentially just a thick disk though. Definitely would like to try something more complicated some day, but at the time all I needed to do was replicate a single part a bunch of times.

I’m very interested in doing this exact same thing.

I’d also be interested. Maybe we can persuade Jordan aka @creaturecarousel to make this the 2nd class she teaches!!

C’mon Jordan, you can do it

You can add me to the interested list.

haha maybe! That’s always a possibility.

I’ll bring you cookies if you do

id be interested for sure.

Jordon if you want to tag team I’d be happy to co-teach with you…you receiving the honorarium. Be advised that the class will have a fee as both the silicone mold and the resin is fairly costly

Wow!! I’d be very interested in that, especially since I haven’t actually taught any classes yet at DMS.

Though, I wouldn’t be too comfortable receiving the honorarium in that situation though, since it would be co-teaching. Perhaps it could all go to CA instead? Definitely makes sense about the class cost too.

Would you want to get together sometime soon about this? I am out of town in the next few days, but I’ll be up at the space Sunday evening and next weds night.

So exited!

I would insist upon you taking the honorarium unless you would like to donate it to creative arts as I am running for the board of directors and will be unable to receive honorarium if I am elected so any class that we held would be right before or right after said elections. I am very happy to share my knowledge and to encourage new teachers.

Something on my someday/maybe list for the Shapeoko.

Ah yes! Totally makes sense, didn’t put two and two together at first. I like the donation to CA option for sure.

Ooo a lot of possibilities there, especially for producing a lot very specific parts. I can think of a bunch of parts that I had to buy that could have easily been created with that method.

Let @missydee1206 and @uglyknees know if we can help with procuring class materials so you aren’t out of pocket

I talked to the Reynolds Materials guys this past weekend at the con in Dallas, and they’d be happy to do some demos/classes as well.
