Which reminds me …
Dear gods of the Common Room,
Would it be possible to install a couple USB charger outlets in the tabletop power strips in the common room?

I’ve plugged in chargers in the common table sockets, but alas they grew legs.
I was hoping that maybe when we expand we could install some of the USB outlets into the tabletops since those can’t just walk off …
Perhaps we could have not just outlets but cables. Many people don’t have the usb cable when they need one. Many places have charging stations. I see no reason why we can’t have a couple built into the work tables. Good idea!
While that would be convenient, it would need to be at least 3? cables to cover several phone types. That seems like it would just become a mess. Even zip tying them down I can see them tearing or breaking.
I definitely like the idea of USB charge ports, without blocks that will walk away. Preferably at a quick charge amperage.
Something like this perhaps?

I think Draco has a good solution. Charging stations, maybe several of them around the space. Have several cable types available and have them attached to the station so they don’t wander off.
Lots of places are using these kind of things

If SWIM wants to, they might even find a company willing to put them in for cheap/free, especially if they place ads on them…
I’ve had one taped down at one point and even that grew legs… O.O
I got one of those at home. Works great. Charging cables tend to grow legs
These cover a lot of bases: https://www.amazon.com/Cable-ZACTEK-Charging-Braided-Lightning-Samsung/dp/B078TG3LK6
Ryan McCutcheon is currently making one at the space for someone else. Perhaps he could help make some for the space?
Cover the electrical contacts and hit them with some really tacky spray paint. Parts for my classes all have a dab of Neon Loopy Lime fingernail polish and none have walked off. No self respecting thief would ever steal a Neon Loopy Lime $1.00 temperature sensor.
Actually a big part of the reason is I invite folks to bring their own projects. This helps keep them separate.
I am with Stan the cables go MIA look at something like this.
Much more reasonable cost. Just hope they don;t become mini personal storage lockers.
