Replacement of hood latch cable

Wondering if anyone knows how to replace the hood latch cable for a 2018 Toyota 4runner. I want to do the work myself just would need a little direction.

As a 4runner owner myself, I rely on certain forums pretty heavily, including Toyota-4Runner.org. Here is a very relevant thread:

It doesn’t seem like it’s a two-person job, but if you want help, let me know and I’ll come in.

BTW, if you purchased new, it may be under warranty?

It isn’t new, so there’s that. I’m kinda sure I can do it, just need to spend time looking at how it snakes through from point A to point B.

On some vehicles where it snakes in and under and depending on if your cable is just a cable or cable and sheath…you may be able to tape the new cable to the old cable and pull the new one in as the old is removed (like a fish line in conduit).

Some are much easier than others.

That sounds like a great idea, thanks

Even if it is set up that it can only be pulled from one end, you might still be able to find some medium stiff wire to pull in temporarily as you remove the old part and use it to pull the new one back in place.

Patience is the key on tasks such as this or working inside a door, under the instrument panel(dashboard), sunroof…patience.
