I’m considering sending an already glazed piece back into another glaze fire. I’ve never reglazed a piece and would love suggestions, tips, and tricks for what to do and what to expect about it running and changing? I will obviously keep in mind that most of what to expect is up to the kiln gods.
Cheap hair on the piece and between each layer is my go to. Blow dry between layers and reglaze while the piece is still warm from the blow dryer. Seal with hairspray.
Some people heat the pieces in oven and glaze while hot. I prefer the hairspray to give it tooth and to hold it on. This works also for “over fired” bisque pieces that the clay is no longer porous.
She means hair spray
Okay perfect, I heard someone mention hairspray the other day and I wasn’t sure if it was an approved method. Thanks!
