Red oak logs in OK

!!!

I have a friend in Oklahoma who has several red oak trees being taken down that are up to 3 feet wide. He’s offered me some, but it’s in log form and I have no experience with any kind of milling. It seems like way too good an offer to turn down, but I don’t know how to procede–thoughts on how/where to mill it? I have do have access to a pickup but no trailer…

I would see if any of this advise is helpful. It seems applicable to me, a total neophyte.

I can get you in touch with a good sawmill contact on the TX/OU border.

Thanks for responses–cooler heads prevailed and the family is getting the wood milled instead of throwing them away (whew!). Indytrucks, I wouldn’t mind having the contact just for future reference.
