Is there any way that I can Raster and Etch in the same operation? I have a design that has lines that etch very nicely but I also have a spot in the middle that I need rastered. Any suggestions?
In my experience (with old versions of Retina Engrave) the easiest way to accomplish this is to make two files and do it as two operations: raster engrave first, then vector cut. Place a small dot at the top-left corner of each file in the same relative location to keep the files aligned, and just don’t move the piece between operations.
@thisisntadonis… It is possible to raster and cut in the same job with the current version of RetinaEngrave. Typically, you would set the job to raster the engraved area first, then use vectors to cut (starting with ‘inside’ cuts first, and ‘outside’ cuts last). It’s not very difficult to set up. You can ask during any of the Laser training sessions we have - or just ask someone you’ve seen use the laser if they can quickly show you how to set up the job.
Sean’s suggestions will work, too.
I am not familiar with the laser that is used at DMS, but I do have my own Universal laser. I use Coreldraw to send the jobs to the my laser. The color selections in the vector file instruct the laser to either do an engraving or a cut in the same job (and to individually vary Z dimension and the power settings). Doesn’t RetinaEngrave have the same type of options?
Yes
Thanks,
