Racing sim setup

While in the space today and on my way to the kitchen, I spotted (for the first time) a racing simulator setup in the room just outside the kitchen. What group supports this? Is there training or classes necessary to take it for a spin?

The Vector committee manages the arcade as a whole. But Motorsports created and maintains the racing setup. They’re at the space on Thursday nights. I don’t think there’s a huge amount of training, just how to use the oculus.

If virtual isn’t enough - They made the racing sim to mirror our real 240sx that they race!

There’s also a real drift trike event this Saturday night if you want to come. It’s the Makerkhana event on the calendar.

No training or classes necessary. If you drop by on a Thursday night we can show you how to use it but I try to keep it just up and running.

Ideally use Assetto Corsa content manager to select your car and track and launch the game. In the video settings you can pick OpenVR and use the headset or single screen and just use the TV.

Oh and volunteer opportunity: if anybody wants to 3d print a cover for the shifter gates, that would be awesome. They’re a little spicy right now. We could also print one that doesn’t let them fully engage that would simulate a sequential transmission.

Is there a file existing? Or would it need designing?

It needs designing but you may be able to find something, it’s a fairly popular shifter.

Thank you for the reply. We had plans last night, so I couldn’t make it but I’ll try to stop by next Thursday night. Is there a typical gathering time?

Roughly 7pm but people show up whenever.
