Race track sculpture

I was looking to create a present for Christmas as seen in the link: North America – Track Sculptures

However, i currently don’t have the necessary training for wood CNC router. Is there anyone who could assist with this type of project? Thank you.

Are you requesting help to just load and run a file on the Multicam, or is it to help you with the design and build in Vcarve as well?

I ask because the with the 1st you have at least a slim chance of getting some help and project done by Christmas.

Since he doesn’t have access to MultiCAM, he most likely doesn’t have access to Vcarve either. We only grant access to the software to the people who have taken the MultiCAM class.

Thanks for the responses. wanderson is correct, i dont have access to Vcarve.
It appears that this might be more labor intensive than i originally expected. My thought was to take an existing image and converting into a proper format and off you go. I’ve done this on vinyl but perhaps it is a higher difficulty on the CNC router.

Here is the outline: https://cdn.nexternal.com/wrr/images/Hallet-Motor-Raceway-Track-Decal.jpg

Unless one has taken the class but not tested out…right? Or if someone has previous knowledge and experience in Vcarve and CNC Router but just needs someone to press “go” for them…right.

This is correct because I just asked my private lawyer I keep on retainer.

Ha ha…you just got waltered.

What material(s) did you have in mind?

Frankly I’d be open to suggestions on ease of and costs. Probably good quality ply unless you suggest otherwise.

No suggestions, really…it’s your project. Was asking since if it was anything other than wood or wood-like stuff (e.g. MDF), it would have modified your chances of getting this done by Christmas from about .1 to .001.

I wish I had better news for you. But good luck…may He (:fsm:) bless your efforts with a touch from his noodly appendage.

Will do, thanks for the input.

If you really want this by christmas, I would cut a 1/4" plywood template on the laser, and then use a router with a pattern bit to cut the multiple layers manually. Shouldn’t take too long.

wanderson, that is a great suggestion. Taking a CNC class on monday and will attempt that afterwards.

Or even just a single (or double) layer of laser cut wood, applied to a backing board with some facts and figures about the track lasered into it as well. I’ve thought about doing this for a while.
