I’ve been in wonder over some of the footage from the floods. What are they using? I know it’s relatively inexpensive(ish) right?
I have no use or desire in filming people who don’t want to be filmed - I just have a project in min.

There are many manufacturers of drones. The one manufacturer that I’m familiar with is DJI (see www.dji.com). They have a line of drones called “Phantom” that are designed to hold a GoPro (or similar camera). They are now on the 3rd generation Phantom (i.e. Phantom 3) drone. If you want to save some money, you can probably find a Phantom 2 for much less than the Phantom 3.
Looks like there are quite a few Phantoms on Craigslist… Of course, all the typical disclaimers - use caution, etc… when buying off Craigslist, etc…
BTW… We have one at the 'Space that you can check out, if you’d like… It’s in the main/common room (aka: Room 1) in the Aerospace area…
Thank you! I didn’t realize we had a test flyer. This helps quite a bit guys.
Warning,
The drone at the space has some issues. I tried to use it during the RC night 2 weeks ago, all I managed to do was uncontrollably attack spectators with it. Also, it isn’t a phantom.
It seems also that Phantom owners don’t take precautions and their $1000 drone fails and crashes. That’s why I stick to sub $100 drones, some of them have decent on-board cameras too.
Just because it’s expensive doesn’t mean it’s easier to fly. Multirotors take a lot of practice to get good at flying.
