Question about signage for rear (pedestrian) door

What does the landlord control regarding exterior appearance?

I looked at the back (pedestrian) door today while contemplating the possibility of improved signage (something like … All Visitors to Front - Member Entrance - Deliveries Ring Bell). Anyway, it appears that at one time there was a sign stuck to the door and there are remnants of it or some funky paint or something else indeterminate on the door. In order to add signage, either the sign needs to be one of those nifty two-color laser engraved plastics, or if it’s vinyl, then the door needs to be sanded/scraped and repainted.

Which leads me to my question. Since this is actually the exterior of the building, I wondered what restrictions the landlord might have placed on us painting/repainting that door. Or if by some remote chance they were responsible for maintaining that since it darn sure doesn’t look like we ever had a green sign on that door.

I think we could repaint it as long as it matches the original color. Paint peeled off during the great logo war of 2016 where vinyl was repeatedly applied, removed, repeat ad nauseum.
@StanSimmons was going to take care of the signage (unless y’all are working together on it)

Thanks. I’ll be glad to defer to @StanSimmons or to help him as needed.

Yes, let’s repaint that baby!

I’ve got some red and white plastic for a sign, and @Kentamanos has volunteered to cut the sign with the CNC Router. He and I will be discussing it tonight.

I’m open to suggestions on the size and wording on the sign. Any suggestions?

Here’s the draft of what I had intended to vinyl cut. (I hadn’t intended to cut the DMS logo because there was already one on the door).

Just my two cents worth.

I’m kinda wanting to remove the bell from the back door. It’s a full 120V 20A circuit running outside to that terribly mounted button, and all it does is make noise. Stan was looking into an IP phone for out there.
Can we say deliveries go to front or call the #?

I agree that it would be nice to send deliveries to the front, but I don’t think that would work very well.

There is rarely anyone out front to answer the door. And similarly, no one answers the phone either. Deliveries are usually in a truck, sometimes large, also.

Alas, I fear that the back, with its crappy buzzer, is really the best answer for deliveries

If we’re going to repaint it, we should do it before we add the sign that @StanSimmons and @Kentamanos are planning to make.

It DOES seem like maybe a doorbell-style setup would be less…dangerous, with only low voltage (24VAC, in my experience) running to the crappy/poorly mounted button outside. Nobody gets electrocuted on 24VAC, even standing in a pool of Brawndo.

I think the delivery buzzer is almost a must have. My suggestion would be that there be a flashing light in warehouse and maybe on wall of commons room as this where most people are likely to be during day and delivery hours.

Stan had a good idea when we were discussing it: a camera video screen in say commons area so yoy can see talk to person and then go assist.

Looking like I’m not going to make it up tonight, but I can definitely get all of this done before Open House etc.

“Non-members please use front door”?
