Hello there - A student friend of mine is joining DMS later this week, and his class would like to shoot a scene for a student film. (some post apocalyptic western, something like that).
First question - Is it okay for the student filmmakers to shoot in the automotive bay? If so, what are the best times to do so. I know daytime and after work are probably out. Weekends are DEFINITELY out.
I believe they will need it for 8-10 hours. Also, Is there any way he can reserve the space?
Talk to @Brandon_Green about possibly reserving the space. During the work day would probably be the best time. I don’t think you need permission from any one to film in DMS, but to film members I would expect you to hang signs saying filming in process and ask people filmed to sign waivers to cover yourself.
They can use the floorspace if someone isn’t already there but we don’t have a system to reserve the area ahead of time. I would recommend doing it during weekday business hours to reduce chance of someone else being there, if someone is already there working in that area would just have ask them if they can accommodate you. If they just need floorspace could also feel free to move around the workshop tables temporarily. Of course move stuff back when done, and have to be there the entire time anything is setup and potentially in the way of others
