I need to talk to someone about donating a piece of equipment. Who is in charge of that?
Chuck (@dallasmagna) is the Metal Shop Committee Chairperson, and Tim (@TBJK) is the online voice of the Metal Shop.
What are you wanting to donate?
I have a virtually unused Miller Synchrowave (I think it’s a DK model). I have a non-water cooled torch head, and other stuff for it.
It is a three-phase unit (I had that at my place back in Longview) but have no place to use it anymore. It is in my storage unit and I think no I will be able to get to it this weekend or next. My biggest problem is loading it into the pickup.
Any time interest?
So is it the non-inverter/transformer style tig? If it is then we really can’t use it. We have two of those styles now, we don’t particularly have a use for it.

Miller’s Syncrowave 250 DX TIG Welder proves itself time and time again in the most demanding applications. … | |

That’s a nice unit. I wonder if it works better than those we have, despite the fact that we don’t really have the juice to drive it…
Whatever happens with the welder: THANK YOU for thinking of the Space in this donation. I’m glad DMS means enough to you to want to do that (I’ve donated tools and will be donating more - I still get to use them! What a deal!)
But again, thanks. That goes for everyone that donates time, effort, (these two are really important) money, materials, equipment, etc.
We really appreciate the offer but at this time with our current power situation, We don’t think we should accept it. Little background is we don’t have enough ampacity to support it. The current electrical is pretty much maxed out. Again, I can’t thank you for the very generous offer. I hope that in the not to distant future we can have our (Makerspace’s)power upgraded.
