Pyro 101 Class - Making Black Powder

Had someone ask a question about the Pyro 101 - Making Black Powder Class, figured it would be good to answer it here:

Q: “Hi if there aren’t going to be live materials, what will we be going over?”

A: While we won’t be in the back parking lot shooting a canon we will have fun. Here is the outline:

  1. General Pyro Safety
  2. Sourcing chemicals: small, large quantities
  3. Producing various types of black powder: commercial, polverone, Meal D, scratch mix
  4. Processes for each type: Screened, Ball Milled, Granulating BP
  5. Which type for various fireworks: shell lift, black match, BP rockets, cannon

We will have small amounts of live materials but only enough for some burn demos.

Probably looking to push back the class a week, want to double up with a class on making your own charcoal.
