I’m a new member here, one of the projects I need to do is repair my 2012 charger pursuit that I managed to bend up on a long sleep deprived drive. I need to pull the engine/transmission and the cradle it all sits on in order to get it over to the body shop and have them do the frame straightening (unless we can do it there which I’m ALL for). I’m planning on finding a truck and trailer to get it to DMS but will very likely need help to get this thing pulled within my time limits. As soon as the parts are pulled the car will be going back on a trailer to the body shop and I would like to see if I can’t use pallet storage while waiting for the car to be repaired. When the car is repaired (less than a week) I would need help putting it all back together (at a convenient time of course).
Here’s my dilemma, I don’t have enough funds to pay someone to have this done ($2k in total) and I have some rather aggressive disc issues in my back that prevent me from doing heavy lifting or standing for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. I would like to see if I can get a small group of people to assist me with this project of mine so that I can get it off my list and then assist other people with their projects. Anyone see any problems with this? I don’t think I need the two post lift so training shouldn’t be an issue.
Thanks for reading this, I’m looking forward to making some new friends with the same passion I have.
We don’t have frame or body straightening equipment.
No one here works on ANY vehicle for money(against the rules) - but someone may be willing to lend a hand - however that does mean YOU the car owner must be present and actually physically involved in doing the majority of the work. This is part of the educational part of automotive - the car owner does the work.
Pallet storage in personal storage is like everything else at the Space - First Come First Serve and very limited (if you are on a time crunch - you might need a back up plan like a self storage place near the Space).
If your car has frame damage and body damage that requires the drive train to be removed to repair it - getting ANY body shop to get it completed in about a “week” is really asking for a miracle.
Why isn’t the insurance company handling the complete repair?
I’m really curious where you got paying people and I wouldn’t help from.
I really miss doing this but can’t do it all on my own so I need the help. For just replacing whats needed it won’t take them long but they can’t work with the frame stubs since the engine is in(also the cradle needs replaced). If I had the equipment and garage like I had in Arkansas I would do it all myself however life prevented me from keeping that aspect of my talent. As for insurance… next time I’m there and I know you are I’ll tell you the story, suffice it to say it’s not totalled but they did pay it off.
Hadn’t thought of local storage, that’s a great idea and I’ll take a look.
