[Project Discussion] Hacking the 6502

I never would have thought of doing this…

Why not? It is soooooo obvious.

Very cool. I have not seen this one before.

Did I read that correctly, 16Mb address space?!

If so what do we need for a project build?

Looks like quite a few parts since the 65C02 is that blue box in the upper-left corner.

I wonder whether this idea will work for other “classic” micros as well or only the 65C02…

Well my thought here is VCC will buy the parts and host it in the museum but as a membership project. Personally I’d love to see it interface to a esp8266 and dial up hackaday.

I already have some 6502s, but not the 65C02 that project requires. I think Tanner has most of the other parts; I know they have the register files as I once used them for a project and have a fondness for them such that I always look to see whether they are still available…

Or, just build the whole thing out of TTL, like this guy did:

Then, modify it how you like.

Also, the 6502.org forums have some interesting discussions on 6502 extensions, including 16- and 32-bit alternates to the 6502/65816.

Thanks for that. I have been hesitant to join “yet another forum,” but they have test suites for emulators…
