Printmaking needs your braun!

Printmaking is accepting a paper cutter donation below and we need a few brauny persons to help with the move. We have a lift gate truck scheduled for Thursday, 12/8 @ 10am, we will meet at the space in the printmaking department. Please reply to this post if you can help us move this item. We need at least (3) people. Thanks so much if you can help.

This is a Chandler & Price, Serial BR1585 the bed is 23" wide with 25" behind the blade and a 12.5" bed space in front of the blade. It is heavy and not on wheels. It took three of us to lift it and we were fairly strong, but we did it? My guess is 350-400 pounds for the top. The base cabinet is light as a feather.

Perhaps you might consider securing the base cabinet to the floor to prevent an unfortunate accident.

I say please work smarter not harder. There is an engine lift next door in automotive. Use it with a strap to set the machine. Use strap saver to keep the strap from cutting on the corners of the casting. To move it around the space I’d suggest using the pallet jack. I can leave some straps & carpet runner for protecting the straps.

The equipment is not at the space yet. This post is looking for people to help get the equipment to the space. If they have experience with the equipment mentioned above then even better because we will need to move it from the loading dock to the the printmaking area.

Definitely second the suggestion of using the engine block. Unfortunately I can’t help on 12/8, but it’s pretty easy to use. Getting the legs all the way down takes some muscle but otherwise it isn’t too bad. The bar to pump the hydraulics blends into the side of the lift (I didn’t see it and spent an embarrassingly long time scratching my head until I found it). It works well for all kinds of very strange looking “engines”…

If hiring movers doesn’t work out, I should be available.
