The Friends of Tandy Hills Natural Area invite Dallas Maker Space to host a free booth at Prairie Fest on Saturday, April 25. The festival celebrates a 160-acre indigenous prairie remnant saved from fracking by festival founders Don and Debora Young. We’ve created the only solar powered music, wildflower and science festival in Texas. The fest attracts 5,000 participants throughout the day. It’s run through 100% volunteer effort at 3400 View Street in Fort Worth from 11 am until Brave Combo closes their headline set at sundown.
Booth space is usually $100 for non profits, but we value your service to the community as your payment. FOTHNA can provide a tent, table and chairs for your booth. We’d like you to bring membership info and an activity demonstrating one of your transportable classes. Your logo and a link to your site will be included on our website in exchange for your participation.
I’ve designed experiential science games for the fest since 2011. Topics have included astronomy, geologic time & evolution, and photosynthesis. This year’s game encourages active involvement in the community and a deepened understanding of prairie ecology. Game partners include the Botanic Research Institute of Texas, Fort Worth Sierra Club, Cross Timbers Connection, Fort Worth Nature Center, and the Native Prairies Association of Texas. Camp Carter has donated a free week of overnight summer camp as the grand prize for the Passport Game. You’ll be in good company, and I hope you’ll consider joining us!
