Pottery Throwdown Event

I just wanted to say I had such a great time at the 1st Pottery

event at DMS. I am attaching some photos from the event. I could not upload the videos.

Go check out dmsceramics on Instagram to get more pictures and video of all the fun events. The awesome community vase was thrown by Liam and decorated by our talented contestants and observers at the event!

Thanks to Jaime, Ceramics Chair; Liam for the musical backdrop for all the events; Chris C. for keeping all the events organized. We can’t forget April, Monica, Anna, and the numerous other volunteer game MC’s who made this event a success!

Personally, my favorite aspect was folks discovering previously unknown abilities. Throwing off the hump, throwing big clay, speed building, etc., lots of potters trying their hand at something new because it’s low expectation and just for kicks. Thank you to everyone that came out!

Also, if you are looking for another new shiny thing to do or crave more awesome Ceramics community action, we have an upcoming Clay and Lemonade event:

Sunday, July 23rd 12pm-2pm

Hey Christy! I heard a rumor that the lemonade event was going to include hands-on coloring clay with mason stains. Is this true?!!

Why yes, yes it is., heh. For those that are in a glazing rut, why not just relieve yourself of hours in front of the glaze wall, staring, picking up a bottle just to set it down again, over and over and over.

Stain your clay! Embrace clear glaze!
