Of those that I’ve met at the space and conversed with on Talk, everyone seems pretty savvy. However, I figured I would create a thread to see if there were any interest in this.
I’m a formally trained bookkeeper and current 3rd year accounting student. While I have no interest in diving into all the hidden beauties of taxation with the members of Makerspace, I figured I would offer some bookkeeping wisdom. I have a template that I developed to use in Microsoft Excel (or google sheets) to run my own books. I figured a class, for those interested, would entail me sharing the template to participants and walking through setup and configuration as well as troubleshooting maneuvers for later down the line. If you have the cheddar to run your own Quickbooks - kudos. However, if you’re in the market for “free”, this would be a great way to run your financials.
I will not charge for the template but I really don’t want to pass the template along without providing free, proper (1-2 hour) online training. The template isn’t so sophisticated that you’ll be running acquisition ROI % projections but it gives me detailed categorization, P/L, as well as monthly and yearly reporting at a glance, across multiple tabs. Again, clean and simple bookkeeping.
BTW - I’m 27. Started college late. You wouldn’t be learning books from a 20yr old - if that matters.
