Seriously? Why would you do that, now it’s literally uses less
What is supposed to be in there? Is it clearly labeled for contents AND purpose? Most folks don’t read minds but will follow clear direction.
It’s specific woodworking cleaner and has a saw. Late on the label and tool cleaner in big font
If there’s a larger container of Tool Cleaner to refill it, maybe take a picture of that, print it out, and tape it to the spray bottle. Or get fancy and print it on printable vinyl and make a more-permanent sticker.
No it’s one of the off the shelf single use ones, I don’t think they make it in large jujus
So the only reason I’m offended is cause I’m multiple occasions I have purchased large 5 lbs bags of candy off of Amazon lol
Will simple green work for this? The space has some on hand for cleaning/ sanitizing anyway and if that works it’ll be cheaper than continuing to stock cmt orange or bits and blades etc.
That explains a lot…
It wasn’t cmt orange but it kinda does just
It takes forever and you really have to scrub, for a good 2 minutes if you can find the brush that won’t mess the blade up, I do it to all the blades frequently because it’s easy and works fast, before someone filled it up, I was at half a bottle and that’s lasted 2-months. But using simple green like cross country skiing in the middle of july, in the middle of a flat field
Simple green or gelled hand sanitizer with a brass brush, put on, leave there for 5-10, brush off
People say that but it’s a hell of a lot of scrubbing and it actually uses more cause there’s no bath to sit it in, but fine if Dms is penny pinching to the point a 13 bottle of special cleaner isn’t feasible that last 4 months then lets get simple green and I’ll
Just join the group of everybody else who leaves them dirty, the thing is I have my own blades I clean the spaces for other people but if the budgets cut aren’t a reactionary thing form covid and have become a constant thing the just get simple green
DMS isn’t penny pinching, you’ve not once told us what the cleaner is. If you had we might have already ordered some…
Yes they are, a big thing in the woodshop, is the nice selection of tools has slowly dwindled and there’s no interest in replacing them, things are breaking and the mentality is ok let’s just sell it and we just won’t have have one any more, and anything considered high end” stuff is only available to a “cool kids club” I’m all for trimming the budgets but trimming and becoming anorexic are different! But honestly any cleaner that remover pitch and tar cmt makes good stuff labeled bit and tool cleaner but there’s also a rocker product both are in the 10-15 range
First, you are moving the goalposts. Lets just get that out there.
Chris, have you ever shown up to a committee meeting? Do you have any idea the process?
What tools exactly are “dwindling down”.
What capabilities have been removed?
What tools are part of the “cool kids club”.
Who are members of this club?
Finally, is this the cleaner you are talking about?

5gal container for reference.
$134.33
He’s talking about boeshield bit and blade. I ordered some CMT to see if it sticks around longer.
I’m not sure what is meant by nice selection dwindling or cool kids club.
It stuck around longer cause I took it into the sink area and used it for about 2 months to clean the tools,
And yes I have shown up tor committee meeting and cleaning
But it’s a long list, but a ton of lathe accessories got moved, same with route jigs such as the box joint jig, the Japanese saws which “have been developing a training system to implement” planes chisels, the cove table saw jig, the Leigh jig which I’m in favor of selling as long as a replacement is bout I don’t like the idea of just selling it, it’s niche but ask Patrick how much use it got, he cranked out like 15 huge chest so it worth having, etc
And belive me I wish I knew who was in the cool kids club and entry defiantly isn’t based off talent, even though I have the talent and all my personal tool are pristinely kept it’s still public hearsay I abuse tools! So it’s not merit based entry
In the year I have been chair I haven’t seen you at a committee meeting or committee cleanup. I know you do a lot of work maintaining machines late at night, not during the day and I’m thankful for that.
Lathe accessories that moved- which ones? Many were on loan and taken home. There is no stash of secret lathe tools that I’m aware of. Is there something you’d like? Let myself or @dwolf know as he’s currently heading up that area for me.
Box joint jig- to my knowledge we don’t have one of these. There may have been one on loan at some point?
Japanese saws- experience shows if we put these out they get damaged and destroyed rapidly. Until we have a solution no one is using them. There’s not a cool kids club that gets to use them when no one else does. No one is using them. As I’ve said before, if you’re willing to help tackle this, please let me know. I want these out and available for public use in a way they won’t get destroyed. Help me.
All planes and chisels are out and available for use. There are several that have walked away or been destroyed.
From this point forward I will be at every single committee meaning from here on out, and you have my word on that! It’s worth submitting a request from he to make it there now!
I doubt a shoulder plane and 12 curved blade plane went missing, up until there started to be the mentality of the woodshop can’t handle nice tool they all stayed in place and were there just as the sun sets
