Please clean up after yourself outside - I can't keep buying tires

Twice now I’ve had to buy new tires after parking in the car charging area. Once last week and once about 8 months ago. Each time there was a nail or screw in the tread too close to the sidewall to repair.

Tonight I found a slew of pop rivet ends and a screw on the ground in that space.

I suggest we get one of these and use it:

I feel for you, and don’t disagree. But I think the better solution is to prohibit people from using the loading dock as a work area. That space should only be used for either moving material into or out of DMS, or charging a vehicle.

We’ve had to use it for blacksmithing when we couldn’t find the people to move their cars on the other side. That being said, we also sweep after every class.

Last weekend I got a nail in one tire and a screw in another.

When I was in high school we used to move mis-parked cars all the time w/ people power. W/ floor jacks it’s even easier…

Logistics will look into getting one of these.

They’ll help with screws but not with the aluminum pop rivets.

I’d hate to see some member’s houses after the way they treat things at DMS.

Tire warranty? Irrc, Sam’s will replace it if they can’t fix it

Those were tires on the car from the factory. The factory warranty doesn’t cover nails and screws.

The pop rivits were left by the folks working on the standard size bus, I saw them pop riviting Monday night. Perhaps someone, @ESmith or one of the board members should have a talk with them?

John approached me Thursday evening - unprompted - apologetic over the mess they made and offered to help with some Space cleaning or maintenance as means of trying to make things right. I gather that they swept that area clean unbidden before this conversation.

I was going to suggest assisting with the offsite cycle, however that won’t be for at least a week and if anyone else has another general cleaning or maintenance project that is broadly beneficial to the Space I’ll be supportive and I’m sure that John will be as well.

For the broader community, it you have a favorite tire dealer who sells the brand of tires that come on your new vehicle, they may be willing to sell you road hazard protection on your new vehicle tires. I never think about it, but have been told at least once when factory tires died an early death. Or maybe I leaned about it in the dozen years since I last bought a car.

Its great that they were apologetic; however, @apipe had actual monetary damages because of the mess they made. I would suggest that she decide just how they should atone for the damage their behavior caused.
