Plasmacam exhaust fan 2.0

So as many of you know the Plasmacam exhaust fan took a dive last week. We attempted to do the cheap fix but it didn’t work out. So in order to get it up & running we went with a standard motor with no drive. This will allow the immediate spool up of the fan instead of the standard 1 minute startup. We went to T Gray this afternoon & picked the motor up.

We then notated the distance from the centers of the front holes and removed the the fan from the motor with jack bolts.

Then removed the split collar and installed on the new motor.

I upgraded the conduit using 3/4" sealtite. Relocated the 2x4 box so the conduit went directly into it being sealed from the environment.
The holes were enlarged using a 3/4 knockout

Then remounted the fan, its about 16 ft in the air.
We checked the rotation then buttoned it all up.

It is cheating to improve in addition to making the repair; this could make the fan continue to work without failing any time soon!! Almost like that was your plan.
Great work!
Thanks.

Good job. I saw the ladder in the room. Looked pretty scary. Thanks again.

Oops, replied to the wrong post. In any case, thanks to the guys who climbed that ladder.!

Thanks on behalf of all the folks in PlasmaCAM classes! We have four currently on the calendar with the next two already sold out.

The pictures are amazing. The fan is larger than I would have thought.
