PlasmaCAM consumables subject to change

As part of the required PlasmaCAM training class we regularly recommend that you purchase your own consumables for the torch. There is current discussion, linked below, about replacing the PlasmaCAM with much better equipment. I’m not involved but I strongly endorse that effort. This could result in some or all of out current consumables not being usable. While compatibility would be nice, it is more important for the team to purchase the best equipment for future years that we can afford.

Until a decision is made it may be best to purchase small quantities of electrodes and nozzles instead of the kit. @TBJK notes in reply 12 that the shield and retaining cap included in the kit may not work with height control. We really want height control!!

If the committee is serious about an upgrade, which would necessitate members needing to acquire a new consumables kit for a new device, I would tend to agree with this approach for the current tool.

Where can I find the list of nozzles and electrodes that can be used on the plasma cutter, so I know what to buy?

I bought one set of Finecut parts at Metroplex. I bought a bunch of Chinese knock offs off Amazon. They were listed under the same part numbers. the Chinese parts look OK and seem to work fine, but I have no objective data to support this. In some cases they come in packs of 5, and I’d be willing to sell one or two sets off for what I have in them.
