Hey… how thick a material does the plasma cam handle? looking to do maybe .5 inch or maybe even .75 inch thick materials if it will do it…
Max would be 1/2" with less than desirable results. 3/8 is ok…
Supposedly if you make a hole in the thicker material for a starting point, it will handle is ok. I have not tried it. .75 is going to be really heavy material just to handle.
May need to change tips to cut that thick.
Could it be cut with the hand-held cutter?
No, the handheld cutter on loan has a small capacity.
On that note I wish someone would get a hypertherm 45 handheld on an agenda…
I agree. This saves on consumables and if the Plasmacam unit goes down, we can switch until unit is repaired keeping the uptime on the big big machine.
