I just custom cut some American Elm for @dwolf and have a bunch more. This particular log came from a neighbors house here in Plano. The log was about 24’ long, 24" diameter at the base. I cut it into 3 8’ sections to transport and mill.
Here are the blocks I cut for Dan. They are 5" x ~18" x 40".
Here’s the rest of the material I have for sale. There are 6/4 x 4" x 8’, 8/4 x 6" x 8’, and some 10/4 x 15" x ~6’. I’m able to custom cut just about any dimension and have a variety of species, so feel free to let me know if you have any requests.
It was just cut, so is still green. Price is $4/bdft while green (discounted to $3.50/bdft if you buy 5 or more boards). If you need it dry, talk to me in a couple months
Here’s a photo dump showing some more angles and grain shots.
Lloyd has done a number of custom cuts for me (Ash, Sycamore, Pecan, Oak, Walnut and now American Elm…). Great way to get bowl blanks and lumber. He is very reasonable. And is one of the few people in the world that has more wood than I do.
I highly recommend Lloyd, too. He’s a great person to know and has some cool lumber milling equipment.
He’s donated old saw blades to the blacksmithing shop and is always willing to help DMS folks find that unique piece of wood.
If you have a fallen tree and you want it milled he’s the guy to talk to. He also has a nice selection of wood to select from if you want to make a live edge something or if you want to like, @dwolf turn some nice bowl blanks.
I made a table out of elm from a barn in the Midwest. Pretty happy how it turned out. I’d like to buy one of the boards for another project. I’ll send a DM
I ordered the Ash. Will be working on another appliance table, about 32x16 with an extension shelf and a drawer. Wood is will be kliln dry mid to late October.
