Several people have asked how Stan’s eye surgery went and he is doing very well. He should be back around space soon!

I’m so happy he will finally be able to see again!
The way i understand it, this is only the first eye. Once this heals, he will go in for the second.

It is customary to not operate on two eyes at the same time, regardless of the type of eye surgery. You know, just in case …
They warn that you might have severe headaches after the first surgery and before the second one. The brain has difficulty reconciling the great vision in the “new” eye with the poor vision in the other eye.

I had my cataract removed out of my right eye Tuesday before lunch. The worst part of the whole thing was getting the IV put in for anesthetic. Prep took about an hour, surgery took less than 15 minutes. I went in for a one day checkup and they are pleased with the progress. I’m seeing better out of my right eye than I have in years. Near vision is still pretty bad, but will clear up as swelling and dilation go down. I expect tomorrow will be even better. I will likely be out of the dark shades just in time to get my other eye done. I go back next Tuesday to get the left eye cut on.

I did a similar thing with my Lasik surgery 16 years ago. Had the dominant eye done first, then a week later did the other eye… I had a tendency to walk in circles for a few days. 
I haven’t had any headaches so far, except when I forget and take the dark shades off outside. Long acting dilation kinda sucks, but should be worn off by tomorrow.

Eye Patch in CA out of leather. Make a Treasure Chest in Wood Shop. Use Machine Shop Turret Punch and gold anodized aluminum and punch out some doubloons
