Who’s likes to dance? Who likes to dance and paint? Come to the paint party and paint…the walls. No. Not crazy. As in - paint this wall white.
We will get freaky on canvas later- but for now we are just getting the room fresh and ready for new life for the move.
I’m in,
I’m up for edging as that is often time consuming and requires more patience than rolling. All I ask is that you please grab a quality edging brush like this Brush. They work much better than the cheap brushes and I’ll clean it up when I’m done. Then it can be used again in the future by a member that doesn’t know any better and probably trashed. But, It will make me more productive.
Hope we have a nice size group for this. If you need help getting supplies, yell at me and I’ll grab Allen and run to Home Depot and pick some up.
Side Note did you decide on the color? Are we going White, White with a hint of cool grey, or the very light cool grey? I know those are weird descriptions but I think they would be accurate to the swatches that we were looking at.
Nick, if you need a hand with edging, I’m sure 2 of us working on it would knock it out faster maybe with one guy on the ceiling and one on the floor. If you prefer to work on it alone, I get it… I’m generally that way.
I’ve done quite a bit of interior painting and I also use the edge brush method vs the “tape everything off and hope the lines are decent when you’re done” method.
@Jeremy, you are officially my number two edger. I have no issues working with others and with the Pillar Room being SO LARGE, I could see having a third person doing edging. I believe we only have one ladder tall enough to do the ceiling so that will be a lot of work. Glad to have another experienced painter doing the detail work. Let the newbies have the fun job of rolling the paint on.
No pretense, it is all work. But rolling is always more fun as you get to have the large effect on the room. edging is slow and doesn’t look like much when happening.
That’s settled… and it brings me to my next question:
Do we want to work on the edging at the same time that every one else is rolling the walls?
In my experience, it’s much easier for the edging to be done first so the folks with rollers know how close to get to the edges annnndddd if several folks are trying to use rollers while we try to edge, it might lead to a bit of chaos as everyone is getting in each other’s way.
I’m willing to work on the edging sometime before the official “paint party” so the room is prepped for the rollers to go nuts.
Or if someone wants to just let me know when the paint and brushes are purchased, I can work on it at my leisure.
To further complicate things, when I have painted in the past, the first thing we always did was tape/mask off all of those edges and areas that were not to be painted. Also ought to have coverings for the carpet. With all of those hands, I think spill likelihood goes up!
That’s a good idea Jeremy. I’ll try and get supplies as soon as I have sign off from Nicole. Then we can get together and edge the room before an army of painters come in. I’ll keep you in the loop and thanks for all the excitement.
Hey guys the paint party is still on. If you can bring a roller or paintbrush it would be awesome.
Oops bought some but I just want to make the best time possible to finish this task. Can’t wait to see everyone!!
