Any update on training? I’ve got a few designs which I could use to get up to speed if someone showed me the ropes on this beast. Most components on the board I’m thinking of are 0805-sized, but I might re-spin it to shrink it down.
We need a sample project or someone to lead getting training materials together. I get nothing done as I have to spend most of my time keeping the eLab picked up.
Hi, im a fairly new member but joined DMS specifically for this machine and a couple of others. How would i best go about getting trained on its use? I can make myself available at any time on any day (except tues and wed of this coming week). As for a test project to use as the learning platform? Tiny-circuits.com. open source, fits the previously suggested arduino stamping, and would ho a long way to kick starting a significantly large project i am looking to use this technology for(my Gargoyles project which ill be posting about in the general forum)
does this require the purchase of full reels of components? if I was to do a run of something, i would have to buy full reels of each component used?
Mouser, amongst others, offers SMD devices in cut tape. You get little strips of the components on a tape.
You can use partial reels or strips. Just be aware that you are going to use up some parts getting it setup. So if you start with a two foot strip of parts an use up an inch or two, it’s kinda wasteful.
If we can determine some very common parts, I’ll be happy to purchase them. Just want people to agree to leave them in place once setup.
That’s sounds like a misunderstanding of someone saying “you shouldn’t be using components from the donated parts wall for your production runs.”
Yes, I know that. my question was do I have to buy a FULL REEL, in order to use them in the machine.
You can buy partial reels from both Digikey and Mouser.
So is there a minimum length of a “partial reel” that is required to feed the machine?
and on a side note,
what’s the word on the pcb mill, is the comp still down?
I was able to use it since that was resolved, as far as I know it’s still working.
That machine is a beast. Someone will have to work hard to break it. DON’T WORK HARD!!!
