Does anyone know if the guy in the blue car is working on his car or??? It’s been there every time I looked today with no one around it…maybe just coincidence…
He came in at 11:37 and left at 13:17, so not unreasonable… if he was working on his car.
He was not working on his car, he unloaded a laser project and left his car parked inside. He will get a stern talking to by the Auto Chair, @TLAR, and likely by the Laser Chair, @heyheymama as well.
Your phone needs recharging.
Thank you guys…could’ve sworn it was the same car when I looked earlier this morning…
@mblatz thanks dude …
I went back to look and there was indeed another car there this morning from 6:01 to 10:47. The Auto and Laser Chairs have been notified about him as well.
Hey, I’m working on a storage rack for my cars trunk and was cutting parts on the laser. I ran into some difficulties on the laser which slowed me down a little. I’ll make sure to move it next time if that happens again.
Paul
On behalf of Laser, thank you, Paul, for the prompt apology.
Laser definitely wants to be good neighbors with Automotive.
I have every confidence this will not happen again.
They only have 3 bays. We at Laser know a thing or two about waiting to use a resource.
I get it, but I’m going to be a flat-out a jerk on this. The auto bays should go to those using jacks and the mechanics tools for their projects…where it is a major hinderance to the project to be making a trips to-and-from the parking lot…not a mild inconvenience of walking out to the parking lot for a test fit every 10-20min…especially during high-demand times for the bays like the weekends.
@TLAR thoughts? Am I way off base?
Thomas
You’re not off base.
Off loading for laser or the woodshed or anywhere else in the space is limited to a very temporary situation. Not hours.
I’ll update the rules on the wiki this week.
In defense of Paul (@pacguy), it sounds like he was using the laser to cut parts for installing in the car’s trunk, not just for transporting the raw materials. Having the car in automotive for installing parts into it does not sound like an abuse of the automotive area to me.
The purpose of parking in automotive should be to make use of the specialized tools there, not just to make it more convenient to work on your project (even if it’s car related).
From the camera footage, Paul did not leave Laser to go to Automotive until time to leave.
To totally dog pile…a guy doing test fits having to walk to the parking lot once every 10-20 minutes is far less of an inconvenience; when compared to the inconvenience for a guy to drag jacks + jack stands etc and work with a jack on uneven surfaces with gravel. Not to mention it is far safer for the guy using mechanics tools to be working in the bay.
