Pen Plotter for Handwritten Letters

Can anyone suggest a pen plotter I can purchase which can make a handwritten cursive note look real? I need to write LOTS (1000+) thank you notes and I thought this might be the way to go.

Man, you have too many friends… I’d start pruning them down by not sending thank-you cards .

I wish I were that popular. These notes are to be included in the packaging for online orders.

Go with Fiver and ask for a bulk discount, probably the cheapest/easiest way….

Something like this….

What I’m doing is including an handwritten note in a what’s known as a “pack-in” or “rider” to all my orders that get shipped out. I’m looking at needing up to 5000 of these written in the next month. I can hire people to do it, but I also thought it might be easier to have someone man a machine that can do it quicker and without the carpel tunnel. There are other options like just printing out a thank you note, but it looses it’s cool factor.

I don’t have any personal experience, but this pen plotter review looked like a good place to start.

Looks like he had the same idea…

Yep. Been getting “junk mail” (now, amusingly, called “SPAM”, apparently, because junk mail wasn’t already a thing or something) for quite some time now. They always want to by a house, or sell a house, or insurance, or… :man_shrugging:

I’m also in need of legible thank you notes for online sales. keeping an eye on the thread

Depending on your price point and if you’d use the other features, most of the modern Cricut machines (even the itty bitty Joy one) can be used to write with markers and pens. I found a tutorial on how to get some good results with handwriting fonts:

The Axidraw is one of the fancier kit options, it’s well built and has a Inkscape plugin AxiDraw MiniKit 2

Or… the hacker way

The cricut subreddit has lots of threads and tips on working with and creating single-line fonts, too.

related to building your own coreXY drawbot. I am working on a CoreXY drawing robot plotter for the 10x10 art show (a year over due) that uses all resin printed parts, 80lb test fishing line, 28byj geared steppers, a 9g servo for the the pen up and down. The plan was write with whiteboard markers on the acrylic, but that seems to dry up easier so I’m switching it to pen and paper. I was looking at grbl compatible controller boards then like most makerspace projects: start projects, finish whenever.
