Parkland Hospital call for donation

I just got this update from a contact at Parkland Hospital.

Parkland Hospital now accepting PPE donations

Parkland Hospital officials said they have been fielding many questions about personal protective equipment donations as reports show increasing need across the country.

A spokesperson said the hospital will accept any new and unopened PPE, including:

  • N95 masks (Medical Grade)
  • Surgical masks
  • Industrial masks
  • Surgical caps
  • Medical protective gowns (water resistant)
  • Foot/shoe covers
  • Medical latex-free gloves
  • Eye protection goggles
  • Medical face shields
  • Powered air purifying respirators (PAPR) and PAPR hoods
  • Hand sanitizer (all sizes)
  • Antibacterial soap
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Disposable food-grade gloves
  • Thermometers (non-contact digital)

If any of you can help with this, it will go to a good cause. At this time they are not taking hand-sewn, 3d printed or laser cut donations.

Thanks, James

Do they really think that many people are hoarding new and unopened items such as these. If they are serious about new and unopened, I doubt they are going to find much. I guess as always, I could be wrong. I am glad they are in a position to be picky, I hear lots of places are recycling these items. Does this mean they would exclude the face shields I 3D printed? ( I missed the part that they wouldn’t accept these.) I wouldn’t call them medical face shields, but I would call them a lot better than nothing. Geez!

Unfortunately businesses are. There are a ton of places with untouched boxes of food service gloves and such. As an example, my son used to work at a movie theater, they are closed and their whole stock of cleaning materials and food service gloves are just sitting untouched.

One of the reasons we chose to go the print farm direction was to be part of a production process that would basically produce new in box product. The hospitals may not take home printed materials but I bet the police and Fire/EMTs will. I’d check with your local station.

Thanks, that is a good idea!

I heard about this recently:

In searching for it, I found this:

Well, I guess I was wrong. I’d thought people would have done this already. My bad.

Then there is this guy…

Almost a million masks supposedly…

Thankfully there are more people like us here that are working towards helping people and less people like this hoarder.

I could be mistaken but I believe Science committee has some boxes of unopened gloves.

Great, I’ll have someone check next time we do a security check. Last time I was there I only saw one open box, but I don’t exactly know where to look.

There were also disposable glove boxes either on top of the resin cabinet or the leather cabinets in CA.

Great, I’ll get them collected and we can get them donated

@FairieCyanide – do you know where any unopened boxes of gloves might be in Science?

Your list above says they want

Do we buy medical gloves at DMS?

I think ours would qualify as the disposable food grade gloves, but I suppose it depends how desperate they get.

If you go in the original entrance to science and turn to the left they should be on that set of shelves in a plastic tote. Some in there are unopened. But a lot have already been opened

Thanks, we will collect all the unopened ones.

I stocked every committee before I asked Rich to lock them up and donate them ASAP.

3/4 small boxes in the bigger areas like CA, ceramics, and warehouses.

There are 5 large boxes in the janitors closet as well.
