I recently audited one of the glaze classes, and I realized that we probably need an underglaze and/or sgraffito class.
Underglaze – painting on colors to make pictures
Sgraffito – underglaze (typically one color) removed (scratched) to produce picture.
Your thoughts?

Would it be possible to do colored slips and then scratch through cuz I know I’ll burble it on my phone will do I’m thinking about things sort of like what martire does
That would effectively be sgraffito. And I’m not going to jack with coloring slips when underglaze works just as well.
I think folks would love to see a class like that. I know that Liam did one quite some time ago but not recently.
Go for it, however we are low on underglazes so let me know what colors you need/want and we’ll get them picked up.

Yes but it’s more difficult than underglaze IMHO.

Yeah – that’s definitely the advanced class. I just saw a need for the folks who’d like to paint something to get a smidge of instruction.

Well,
Amaco Velvet Underglazes (they’re cheaper than the Liquid)
White V360
Yellow V308
Either Bright Red V387 ( at about $8 for the 2oz – cheapest of the real reds) or Rose V318 which is the same $5.95 as the rest of the bunch. Rose is probably a good enough red.
Purple V-322
Medium Blue V326
Dark Green V353
Jet Black V 361.
I kind of wanted the Velvet Underglaze Set #1 – $72 on Amaco’s website for 12 2-oz colors, but Trinity says that they’re out, so we’ll stick with a loverly “set” of 7.
I have ordered underglazes for you. We should have them in a week or so.
There are quite a few on back order so I had to switch your request for purple to another.

That’s fine. We’ll work with what we’ve got!
And now for the next question:
I’m going to make up something simple for folks to decorate. I’m planning on painting on bisque.
A cylinder or a tile?
It’s certainly simple to make, and no curvature to consider in painting.
