I just put two little things on the BoD agenda in anticipation for open house. One being a small(ish) “allowance” to be used for the event starting now.
The other locking in the date for this year to assist with planning and. Last year it was the 12th - this year I put it on the 17th. This is not my decision - it’s a collective decision - I just felt it important that someone gaze into the future and drop some breadcrumbs back to the present day.
*i changed this because of the opportunity of Dallas parking day (as noted by Alex below)

I was going to bring this up in the PR meeting Next Wednesday, but I would propose that it be held on the 17th. A few reasons, Dallas Parking Day is on the 16th (http://www.parkingdaydallas.org/) we can promote for our open house there and really drive people the day before so its fresh. NTX giving Day is the 22nd (https://www.northtexasgivingday.org/) so we can push for that at the open house like last year.
Those are my main reasons, but I dig your enthusiasm and forethought. Hopefully pushing it out 1 week isn’t a big deal.

I’ll change it. I like the 17tj better myself.
Who’s gonna knock out something for parking day? calling Rube Goldberg calling Rube Goldberg
I’ve changed my proposal. Because what else am I supposed to do at 5am?
This is an even I am really interested in and will take point. Gorman broke it out into another post PARKing Day Dallas So I will talk about it more there.
I’d recommend the 17th only if we plan something truly elaborate and awesome on Parking Day the 16th… because otherwise our open house will be competing with many more festivals that weekend: Oktoberfest, Pride festival, etc.
PS I liked the 17th better myself but I felt I should try to keep it concurrent. I’m happy that this has been changed and the ball is rolling.
