So I was watching Richard Raffan’s Turning Wood DVD and noticed this scene from his shop.
So if one person can make that much of a mess, perhaps we aren’t doing too bad with all of the people we have using the woodshop?

Oh my please don’t encourage the slobs
I think that guy has been in our wood shop!
To me, it looks like the scene of a horrible accident where the blood hasn’t started pooling on the floor.
Maybe that’s just it. He lures eager woodworkers into his lair baited with tools and supplies. The shavings and sawdust are on the floor to hide the blood pool so as not to alarm his next victim…muah ha ha!
A large turning will produce quite a few chips, I’ve had them pile up several inches deep around the lathe be before I realized it was time to stop the lathe and use the broom.
This mess however is falling into the unacceptable area, especially in a community work area.
Stop every now and then and switch to the vacuum…
Shag carpeting in a workshop? Well I never.
